Willow Creek (2013): Super Boring

Zombies, vampires, serial killers, ghosts, werewolf, UFOs, and psychopaths, I’ve seen it all. So when I read the synopsis of the Willow Creek, I said “wow, this is interesting, a new creature of terror.” The creature I’m talking about is the Bigfoot.

Bigfoot is a tall ape-like creature that rumors to roam the forest. There are accounts of sightings but there is no strong proof yet that it really exists. This is the mission of Jim who brings along her girlfriend Kelly to look for evidence that Bigfoot really exists. They went to the Willow Creek even though they are refused to enter, and they were able to find the “creature” they are looking for.

Willow Creek have the same elements like the Blair Witch Project. The main characters are in the forest, there are strange sounds, they are documenting everything and they found what they are looking for and that is it! This is what I hate about this film, it lack originality. And the sad thing is I never really like the Blair Witch Project either. For me, these films are both Super Boring.

The climax is all that matters, it is kind of creepy but it wasn’t worth the wait. They will let you drawn in the film, and they will give you the thrills at the end – which is not terrifying at all. I wish that they are more shocking things in it than the one they have shown.

This is not a really great movie. It actually sucks. But the plot was good though. It was something new for me but it fails to impress me.

A Serbian Film (2010): Disturbing in a Whole New Level

There was this one time when I got bored and I search for the best disturbing movies of all time. I’m huge fan of unusual, eerie, and disturbing things you know… Most of the list that I’ve seen includes the movie A Serbian Film, and it captures my attention. I just got the name, read the plot and do not bother to read commentaries and reviews about it. I don’t want to be spoiled! And so, I watch it with just a little idea on what the movie is all about.

The plot is good; a retired porn star is offered a project in which he will be featured in a porn movie. The offer of the contract amounts to something that will make them real wealthy than before. So he accepted the deal without knowing what it is all about. The director said that it will be more artful, but the film is actually frightening and disturbing in a whole new level.

At first, he find himself in an unusual setting, got to meet the other cast but nothing sexual happens. But as they go on to the other scenes, the director asks him to do things that will satisfy their audiences’ out of this world fetish. He refuses when this turn to worst. However, it doesn’t end there, he was drugged. As he wakes up, he realizes that reality is a nightmare; he had done something that turns his stomach upside down and ruin the bright future he hoped for his family.

I wouldn’t spoil the details of the movie. All I can say is that the climax of the film shakes me and it is really disturbing. It was great in a sense that it knocks my head and lets me think about the essence of life, how people can do such act or forces others just to satisfy their cravings, they fetishes. It was more frightening to think that these kinds of things are actually happening in real life.

If you have the guts, I encourage you to watch it. But beware. It doesn’t allow me to sleep the night I’ve watched it. It is not because of any creepy creatures or the killers at a rampage. My mind was so shocked that it keeps me awake, astonished in a negative way.
